Research has linked Vitamin D deficiency with many diseases. It seems as though we need plenty of Vitamin D for good health.

In 1971 President Nixon declared war on cancer. Pharmaceutical companies have been developing new drugs. Today cancer is up by 50 percent. Recently a vice president of a pharmaceutical company said, "We are committed to transforming cancer into a chronic manageable disease." He did not say they are committed to curing cancer. He wants people to take medication and live with the disease. The main concern is that too many people are dying.

My preference is to get rid of cancer. Have it be gone and never come back. Here is a summary of some of the research on Vitamin D.

In October of 2006, for one day only, CNN ran a news story that taking Vitamin D could lower the risk of every type of cancer by 50 percent. Getting sunshine every day could lower the risk of cancer. And they took it off the web.

Time Magazine listed the benefits of Vitamin D as one of the Top Ten breakthroughs--next to stem cell research. The media did not pick up on that item.

A study of 120,000 women at the University of California, San Diego, in 2006, concluded that the women with the highest levels of Vitamin D had a 50 percent lower risk of developing breast cancer.

Colon cancer is three times more likely in people with low Vitamin D levels. People with low Vitamin D levels are twice as likely to have heart attack. Osteoarthritis progresses more rapidly among sufferers with low Vitamin D levels. Adequate Vitamin D levels significantly reduced debilitating Muscular Sclerosis flare-ups.

In 1994 President Clinton commissioned a study that concluded pharmaceutical drugs have mark ups of up to 57,000 percent. The mark up on one drug was only 21,000 percent. It certainly sounds like making big money is more important than health and life.
