Rocket Attacks Impact Mental Health

Voice of America News reports today from Jerusalem that "rocket attacks have again become an almost everyday occurrence in the four weeks since Israel called off its 22-day offensive on militants in Gaza." Most of those rockets are aimed at residential areas.
During the Cold War era the United States encouraged people to build storm shelters. Now and then they may have been protection against tornadoes. In the US we have not experienced missile attacks from enemies in residential areas. The closest things would probably be drive-by shootings and road rage, which are bad enough.
Yet Israel experiences rocket attacks from Hamas almost every day. It takes a horrible toll on the economy. But what about the people?
If you did not know when the next rocket would scream out of the sky, would you let your children play outdoors? How would you feel about letting them out of your sight? Yet they must go to school. They need friends. They need play time. They need to be in sunshine to get Vitamin D.
It seems to me there are some mental health issues here. Living in fear can result in things like extreme stress, guilt for surviving, or paranoia. Mental stress can demonstrate itself in physical issues. Paranoia tends to set the sufferer apart, because people do not want to be around him. We have seen soldiers' minds and lives crippled because they came home and their buddies did not.
How long would you endure daily attacks? What would you want elected government representatives to do to protect the mental and physical health of your family?
Would you be interested in trying to arrange a peaceful solution with terrorists who have vowed to wipe your nation off the map?
