These days people are going to home parties with their pocketbooks full of one commodity and going home with another commodity. We have all seen the television advertising, Cash for Gold. Now there are home parties where people actually exchange their gold for cash.

With the price of gold around $900 per ounce (the highest it has ever been), people are trading unused gold for cash. Some use the cash to pay bills, others are paying kids' college tuition.

The party plan seems to be working. People seem to prefer the warmth of a friend's home over the impersonalness of walking into jewelry stores that also are buying gold. And telling the story behind the ring or broken necklace seems to create a postive ambiance.

As with party plans, the hostess is rewarded. This plan nets the hostess ten percent of the gross. One woman attended a party and is planning her own. Her goal is to have ten guests in attendance.
