It seems as though everyone loves macaroni and cheese. When I make the boxed version for a dinner, I bring home an empty dish. Homemade sounds even better. The recipe "3-Cheese Pasta Bake" seems to be very easy and versatile.
One advantage of homemade is flexibility. This recipe offers suggestions for reducing the fat content, thus making it heart-healthy.
Turning this recipe into a main dish appears to be quite simple, according to the directions. I would like to experiment with a topping. Once the casserole bubbles, butter a slice of bread, folding it so buttered side is in. Tear bread into small pieces across the top of the casserole. Then return to the oven for about 5 minutes, until the crumbs are golden.
